Unconventional Methods of Treatment

Special subject to criticism "kiberdoki" - doctors or people who call themselves as such, provide services for the diagnosis or treatment through the Internet, usually for a fee, often using unconventional methods of treatment. However, there is no guarantee that such a correspondence treatment not harm. Free access to biomedical information has provided new opportunities for physicians and patients, but the content and accuracy of such information, as well as the quality of services in cyberspace, a concern of the medical community. As a means of control offers certification of health websites, which should be supported by appropriate stamp on the site, checking the websites of the World Health Organization.

Through the electronic versions of medical journals and popular sites "of interest", various discussions and forums, doctors and patients are almost unlimited access to medical information and to exchange views. However, it is not clear whether an ordinary patient is able to use information obtained on the Internet with health benefits. Healthcare informatics on the Internet may be the most modern, because it is possible to update the site at least daily.

However, the dissemination of such information and its sources are not controlled (site can be created by any individual or organization), and interpretation of information received depends on many factors and can be very arbitrary. In addition to educational purposes, the Internet can be used to collect clinical and epidemiological data on the quality of life, psychological and sociological data, information on health, but the processing of such data should be aware that this information is not characteristic of the whole population.

The quality of medical information on the Internet varies from the most modern and scientifically-based practice guidelines, developed by leading groups and associations of experts in various fields of medicine, to information is absolutely incorrect, outdated and even dangerous. Internet activities help groups of patients with any illness that has both positive (the exchange of useful information, emotional support) and negative (intentional or accidental misinformation, increased disability or fear mongering). Much of the information is of obvious or hidden advertising character, and directly or indirectly misleading the consumer (physician, patient) in pursuit of commercial objectives. A patient receiving online information about the different "wonder drug" or other methods of treatment of unproven efficacy and safety, require that physicians use these tools, it is difficult or impossible to explain to the patient the real situation.

How to be using for the full distance kibermeditsiny medical advice, is unclear. On the one hand, there is an enormous and unmet need for fast and competent medical advice that could be effective not only medical but also from an economic point of view. On the other hand, the ethical aspect of this consultation is heated debate.
